Advanced Math
This class is generally taken by juniors and seniors who have successfully completed Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Much of the first chapter is a rehashing of concepts practiced in Algebra I and II. Much of the rest of the year is spent being introduced to new concepts to prepare for the next level of higher math: Calculus. Once again, dedication by the student to stay on top of the learning will bring benefits down the road. Try to learn things for the long haul...not just to get through the test. Having a good background in math will open doors just as surely as not having a good background will close doors in the future. Since Nebraska requires all juniors to take the ACT, some of the students in this class will be completing that test in the Spring. By the end of Algebra II, those concepts tested have been introduced. This year gives more opportunity to practice before that test is taken. This class will also continue to prepare the student for that "next" step in their math education. The student should recognize many of the concepts taken to a new depth of understanding.
I expect my students to come to class prepared with pen, pencil, textbook, calculator, completed homework, paper, and a willingness to work hard. Students are to be in their assigned seat by the tardy bell and getting the necessary items ready to go. See the slide show at the bottom of this page for more details on my expectations and procedures.
"Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. Don't whine. Don't complain. Don't make excuses." - John Wooden
Lesson Plans:
The following plans are just "plans". Sometimes outside forces cause things to not go the way I expect and changes will be made in class. These changes will most likely NOT get posted here.
