A little bit about me...
My name is Dorothy Moss and I am pleased to be teaching here at Centura this year. I was raised on a farm north of Boelus. In the spring of 1982 I graduated from Centura and in the spring of 1986 I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Kearney State College. I taught for one year in Sargent, NE, and then took a few years off to get married and start a family. After 35 years, I'm still married to my hard working husband. My son has earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing and Management at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a Master's from Midland University in Fremont, NE, and married a lovely young woman in April 2013. They had their first child, a daughter, in May 2016, and a second daughter in November 2019. My daughter has earned her BA in Middle School Education endorsed in math and social sciences from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and teaches math here at Centura as well. She married a kind young man in July 2020 amidst the pandemic. They had their first child, a son, in June of 2021. For the past twenty-nine years, I have been teaching at Centura Public School. Year twenty-six was a new and exciting adventure teaching with my daughter! I am a member of the School Leadership Team. In the past I have coached JV volleyball, junior high volleyball, and sponsored the National Honor Society. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. My interests include spending time reading, learning, doing puzzles, shopping, playing piano, and listening to music.
My Vision Statement...
I have ALL STUDENTS in mind when I plan the lesson for each class. ALL STUDENTS need to be challenged.
EXCELLENCE can only be attained if ALL STUDENTS have high expectations. I have high expectations for ALL STUDENTS to help them achieve EXCELLENCE, which looks different for EACH STUDENT. I believe all kids have the opportunity to learn every day.
I have resources available that inspire INNOVATION. New ideas can be found in the next classroom, on Twitter, on Pinterest, or any number of education organizations.
